Edit your counsellor profile
How to change what people seeking support read about you: job title, how you work, qualifications, languages, fields and holidays.
Where you edit your profile
In “My workspace”, open “Your page” at the top and then “Edit page”. Your details are on the left. On the right you see how your card looks in the directory. The preview changes while you fill in the form. Nothing is saved until you click “Save”.
If your profile is in the directory, “View page” on the right opens it. If something is still missing, it says what is missing. You change your photo with “Change photo”.
About you
| Field | What goes there |
|---|---|
| Job title | Your profession or degree, for example “Social worker (BA), couples and family counsellor”. It appears under your name. |
| How I work | A few sentences about how a conversation with you goes and what matters to you. Write in the first person and in the language you counsel in. At most 1,200 characters. |
Qualifications
“Add entry” creates a new row, for example for a degree or further training. The cross next to a row removes it. Empty rows are dropped when you save.
Counselling, languages and fields
- Under “How I counsel”, tick whether you counsel by video, by messages or both.
- Under “Counselling languages”, choose every language you can counsel in. People seeking support can search the directory by language.
- Under “Counselling fields”, choose on which field pages you appear, for example counselling for men or couples counselling.
- Focus areas such as separation or fatherhood belong to counselling for men. You see them as soon as you tick counselling for men. If you remove counselling for men, the focus areas are dropped when you save.
You need at least one choice each under “How I counsel”, languages and fields.
Holiday
Under “Holiday”, enter the day you are back. Until then onlineberatung.digital offers no times with you. Your profile shows when appointments are free again. Appointments that are already booked stay as they are.
If you are back early, click “End holiday” and then “Save”. For single days off without a note on your profile, use “Blocked days” under Times and video link.
What applies at once and what the platform operator checks
Before you are approved, everything applies at once. The lead of your centre or the platform operator checks your details when approving you.
After that, almost everything also applies at once: the text “How I work”, “How I counsel”, languages, fields, focus areas and your holiday. The platform operator checks two things first, because your qualifications on the profile say “Checked by the platform operator before approval”:
- a new job title
- new qualifications
After you save, the job title or the qualifications show “Waiting for the platform operator”. Until the platform operator has accepted your change, your profile shows the current details. The platform operator gets an email from onlineberatung.digital about it.
Removing always applies at once. If you change a qualification, the old one is gone at once, and the new one waits for the platform operator.
What the platform operator decides
The platform operator sets the address of your profile, whether it is published and which centre you belong to. How you get into the directory is explained in First steps as a counsellor.
