Counselling for two
Your partner or another person joins you. There are two ways to do this, depending on how often they will be there.
Two ways
A second person can join in two ways. Your counsellor sets up both. Tell your counsellor in the room what you would like.
| Own access to the room | Guest link for one appointment | |
|---|---|---|
| Suits you if | the person takes part regularly, for example in couples counselling | the person only joins one video appointment |
| Account | own pseudonym and password | no account |
| Sees | messages, appointments, whiteboards and video | only the video and whiteboard of this appointment |
| How they get in | with a code from your counsellor | with a link by email |
| How long | until they are removed from the room or delete their account | the link is only valid for this appointment |
Own access with a code
Your counsellor creates a code for a second person and passes it on, for example on paper, by phone or as a message in the room. The code works only once and only for a short time. A new code replaces the old one.
The second person redeems it under Redeem invitation:
- Enter the code under “Invitation code”.
- Choose their own pseudonym and password. An email address is optional here too.
- Complete the human check and confirm the privacy information.
- Tap “Open room” and write down their own recovery code.
If another account is still signed in on the device, sign it out first. Each person needs their own account. If the room has been closed, the code does not work.
What you both see
After that you both see the same room: all messages, all appointments and all whiteboards. This also applies to everything written in the room before. Each message shows the pseudonym of the person who wrote it. At the top of the room it says “In the room with you:”, followed by the other person's pseudonym.
Each person signs in with their own pseudonym. Each person gets email reminders at their own address, if they have entered one.
Tip: The second person also reads your earlier messages. Talk to your counsellor beforehand about whether that is right for you.
Guest link for one appointment
If someone only joins one video appointment, your counsellor invites them using their email address. For this, send your counsellor the address in the room. The person then gets:
- an email “Invitation to a video appointment” with the date, time and the “Go to appointment” button,
- a reminder the day before with the same link,
- if the appointment is cancelled, a short email saying it will not take place. This also applies if the room is closed or handed over.
The emails contain no names and no content. The link opens shortly before the start. Before that it shows a countdown. If the video runs in the room, the guest knocks just like you. They see the video and whiteboard, but no messages and not the room. They do not need an account. If you wish, your counsellor enters a name for the video, otherwise the person is called “Guest” there.
The link is only valid for this appointment and only for this person. After the appointment it shows “The appointment is over”. About a week after the appointment, onlineberatung.digital deletes the guest's email address and name.
If someone is no longer taking part
Your counsellor can remove a second person from the room again. Their account remains, but they no longer see the room. Your counsellor can also withdraw a guest link. It then no longer opens.
If a person deletes their account, the room remains for the other person. The messages of the person who deleted their account disappear. More on this under Account and security.
