The network map
What the network map shows and how you work on it in the appointment and between appointments.
What it is about
The network map shows who belongs to your life and how close people feel to you right now. You are in the centre. Around you are four areas: family, friends and acquaintances, colleagues and professional helpers. You fill in the map together. There is no right or wrong, what counts is how it feels to you right now.
In the appointment
In the appointment your counsellor can choose “Network map” at the top. You then see the map on your screen and can work on it too.
- Under “Contacts”, tap the icon with the plus.
- Tap the place on the map where this person belongs for you.
- Enter a first name or nickname. On a phone the keyboard opens by itself.
The return key or “Next contact” goes on, “Close” finishes. On a phone, age, notes and more are under “More details”.
Use two fingers to zoom into the map, one finger moves the view. The magnifier on the map resets everything.
Between appointments
If your counsellor has shared it, your room has a “Your network map” box. With “Open” you keep working whenever you like. You both see every change. Your counsellor can bring back earlier versions, so you cannot break anything.
Who sees it
Only you and your counsellor see the map, and in the appointment also guests who take part. The map contains details about other people, so a first name or nickname is enough. It is deleted together with your room.
